L'Ají Limón - chiamato anche Lemon Drop o Hot Lemon - originario del Perù, è la varietà più conosciuta di Capsicum baccatum, famiglia particolarmente nota per le sue piante vigorose e ad alta resa. Queste piante di peperoncino possono raggiungere un'altezza di 150-200 cm già durante il primo anno, crescono fortemente ramificate e possono produrre fino a 100 frutti. I frutti sono di forma oblunga e con la buccia sottile e possono raggiungere una lunghezza di circa 4-6 cm. Se coltivate in vaso, le piante rimangono un po' più piccole. Con una gradazione di 30.000-50.000 Unità Scoville, il Lemon Drop Chili è una delle varietà più piccanti. Ha un aroma fruttato, quasi agrumato. A causa della sottigliezza, i frutti possono essere essiccati molto bene o usati freschi. La varietà ají limón è conosciuta in tutto il mondo solo dagli anni '90 con i nomi 'Hot Lemon', 'Lemon Drop' o 'Aji lemon drop'. Tutti questi nomi sono dovuti al fatto che i suoi frutti maturano assumendo un colore giallo. Fruit setting Fruit is now setting nicely, looks like it should - pointy, elongated. But I knew it it would be the real deal once the flowers opened because of the distinctive green stripes on pettals. Taste test later in summer!

Good germinator, but… … got cheated on the amount of seeds again. There were 9. Will update on what fruit they grow later!

Different from the promised variety We got the crop and the peppers were not what was described. They were rather round, pale yellow. No distinctive flavour, not citrusy, not spicy, not hot at all. The shrub itself is short about 40cm tall. A bit disappointed with the plant.
